Hickory is very hard, harder than oak, pine, Ashe.

It comes in a select or character grade.

Most floors are Fir but you can get blue or white pine.

East coast pine can be very hard.

Most fir/ pine is a soft wood.

Australian Cypress is like pine. It can come hard or it can be softer.

Usually comes knotty.

The Process:

  1. Give me a call when you are thinking about getting hardwood or sanding; if new construction, this would be when you have a framing up before sheetrock.

  2. Ill show up a week prior and drop off the wood.

  3. It takes about a week or two for install depending on sqft. I can do 1500 a week if its a square room and 3 inch or better wood.

  4. It takes about a week for me to sand depending on requests.

  5. Stairs take about a week to install. I need a week to finish them as well so two weeks.

Cleaning:

Clean with a microfiber mop and bona hardwood floor cleaner or any low residue cleaner.

Fir/Pine

Brazilian Cherry is even harder than hickory.

It turns a dark red brown color.
